. I have only eaten here once, I'm sure I will be back many times it really is a fast food restaurant there are just a few tables and they mostly do take out I had fabulously good chicken enchiladas with red sauce, much better than I've had anywhere else in Las Cruces

Just visited yesterday, during their first week open and I was very pleased. They had a substantial amount of the food that they carry at their other locations, and my wife and I were able to get it in under ten minutes. My El Sombrero tacos were delicious, and they were nice enough to roast some jalapenos and add them in the tacos at my request. My wife's rainbow enchiladas were equally good, if you like rolled enchiladas! I prefer flat enchiladas, and was happy to see that they carry those too! All and all, a great experience. It is nice to have a good quality Mexican restaurant (with the ability to do take-out) that is close to home! Welcome to the neighborhood, El Sombrero!! Note: They have drive-up spots that appear to be used for call-in orders. From what I could tell, they will bring the order directly out to your car. This is a nice convenience, especially given that their location does not allow for a drive through. If you prefer to dine inside, they do have a couple of tables, as well.

Food was rather slow and wasn't all that good. Tried it 2 times and both times it took around 30 minutes or more to get food. This is an "Express" version of their regular restaurant - I really don't get the significance of "Express" here. The chile con queso was like melted cheese wiz and wasn't all that great. The tacos were bland. Stuffed sopaipillas tasted like the meat was seasoned with Taco Bell seasoning. Just not that good. The steak tacos were more like fajitas with bell pepper and lots of onion - and tasted like it was seasoned with way too much pepper and some Italian spices. The nachos didn't have the queso sauce, barely any cheese at all. The "salsa" had an odd taste that seemed more Italian than anything. .. Bleh. Did I say overpriced? The above items all taken together cost over $70 (1 was 2 orders of tacos).

I am very disappointed, I called in a order for pick up and verified my order several times making sure they had it correctly. Well after picking up my order and driving back home 20 minutes away my order was wrong. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and will never go back. Very bad service!

I should have read the reviews and saw how bad this place is. El Sombrero Cafe is amazing, which is why I assumed this place would be too. The customer service is extremely terrible. Will not be coming back here again and would not recommend coming here either. Going to the Cafe is worth the drive and time than the head ache this place will give you.

I've eaten here twice now and was happy with the product both times. Service is pleasant, staff friendly and helpful. My food was delicious! The biggest compliment I can give them is they don't over-salt everything. Yeah a few things like the beans and rice were seasoned well, but over all, I could enjoy the flavors without being overwhelmed by salt. Well done! I had their three taco plate on Taco Tuesday, which is a great deal. They let me pick one of each type of taco and they were all really yummy!! The next time I got the stuffed sopapillas and they didn't disappoint! Fluffy, tender and delicious stuffed with a spicy green chile stew. Yum! I recommend them! Plus they have outside parking spots and will deliver to your car if you like.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
